I joined the On-line meal plan and I just love it.  I've been trying to loose weight and it has been more difficult than I thought it would be.  I was trying to watch carbs and exercise.  I thought I would look at the meal plan just to see what I needed to do to get on a more organized program than just trying to watch carbs.  I've never looked at calories, protein or fat, just carbs.  I could not believe how much fat I had been eating!!!!  It was eating about three times the amount of fat I should've been and very little protein.  I was also eating about three portions of everything!!!  I chose the program to loose 1.5 pounds a week and it works!!!!  It also gives you easy ways to remember how much a portion of different foods are.  I really like this program.  I just wanted to say thanks for offering it

The questions and responses are as follows:

1. How did you decide to make a change?

  • I stepped on a new set of scales, and it read 327 lbs.  I freaked out and had extremely emotional moment.

 2. What were some of the techniques you used?

  • I started working out with 15lbs of dumbbells. Then, went to a fitness center, walked, and used home tapes.  Then joined Absolute Fit and started using cardio equipment and Circuit training. Which Rocked!

 3. What are or were some of your most difficult challenges?

  • MMM... uh not relying on pre-packaged convince food.  When I was using them my weight would flux by 5lbs.  Also not reverting to old habits.

 4. How has your transformation affected your life?

  • I feel better about everything.  Lower stress levels and more confidence.

 5. What is the most important piece of advice you have for others?

  • Start with small changes at a time, challenge yourself daily, and listen to Jack!

 6. What are your goals for the future?

  • I have met one goal and then next is to be under 200lbs and then to 180lbs and after that I might go lower but I am not sure yet.

 7. Additional comments.

Thanks to Absolute FIT I did something today that I have never done before.  I walked into a clothing store, bypassed the plus section, and picked out a pair of 16 misses jeans.  I tried them one and they fit ME!  After I stopped crying for joy, I tried on about 7 more pairs in 16 and 14’s and was amazed that they fit.  I left the store with a pair of 14 misses size jeans and an XL misses size blazer.  I also left with the most wonderful feeling of pride and accomplishment that I have ever had in my life.  I have been overweight since I was a toddler, as a teenager I would have to shop in the women’s section just so the pants would fit.  Now at 30 I no longer wear plus sizes!

I started losing weight in Jan of 2003 when my husband (Chris) began telling me about weight training.  He talked me into lifting a set of old dumbbells that he had and the next day I went out and bought a set of 15lbs dumbbells for myself. Soon after we bought a small weight bench and in a March I was down 21 lbs.  At the end of March I joined a small facility and lost 40lbs the first year.  There was little support and NO variety.  I hit a plateau very fast and even gained 15lbs and had to lose that plus 5lbs more during my second year.  During this time not only was I working out at the facility but also I was also walking 3 to 5 miles a day, doing an hour of palates at home 2 to 3 times a week and couldn’t lose a pound.

 

When my husband noticed in our 2004 Christmas snap shot that he had an extra chin we began to look for a fitness facility we could both use.  He went in February 2005 to a few places, came home and would not stop talking about Absolute FIT.  It had everything we were looking for, friendly atmosphere, variety, knowledgeable staff, and it was CLEAN.  The next day I was on my way to my old workout facility when I had to stop in at Absolute FIT to sign up my husband.  I spoke with Jack and he showed me the Nautilus Circuit.  I worked muscles I never knew existed!  It was incredible!  I was hooked and could not wait for my husband to get us a membership.  We joined in the middle of February and now 8 months later I am down from a tight 20 plus and a 41 inch waist to a fitting "and breathing" 14/16 misses and a 35 inch waist.  I have so much more confidence and energy. 

The atmosphere is so friendly that I never felt out of place. I have made new friends there and we are now supporting each other. The staff (which I am now one of) is really wonderful.  I know I still have more weight to go but I can now mark off one goal for myself (no more plus sizes!). Since joining I have lost 44.5lbs but have gained the wisdom to continue to lose and keep it all off.  Now here is the part were you read that these results are not typical but they can be with your determination and effort along with Absolute FIT’s knowledge and support. I will never “cheat my body” or myself again!

Scott is also sharing his story because he is feeling the significance of how his lifestyle is changing (i.e. inside and outside) and now is trying to encourage others to change who are dealing with similar problems in their lives. Scott's an example of many that is changing their lifestyle here and now experiencing a better quality of life on a daily basis.

His story:

I came to Absolute FIT and spoke with Jack because I was under a doctor’s care for asthma. I had been taking prednisone for 16 months, in that time I had gained 70 plus lbs. could not exercise due in part because of my poor breathing. I explained to Jack my condition. He took my weight, measurements, lifestyle and health all into consideration and has created a program that is suited to my needs.

Jack is teaching me to change my lifestyle and eating habits in order to help me loose the weight that I have gained. Not only am I eating to loose weight, but he is teaching me how to eat in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle from now long tern. He has been personal training me 3 days a week for 6 weeks and in that time he has helped me drop 23.5 lbs, of the 23.5 lbs., 18.5 has been fat.

Jack also has been able to help me maintain my muscle tone and loose the fat the correct way. Through my training sessions, he has been encouraging me and beside me for every rep and every exercise. He always asks questions in order to know how my body is responding and what my limitations are.

Jack knows when I can keep going and when my body has had enough. He and I have set goals for myself and I have been very happy with the results thus far. I know that what Jack is teaching me will pay off and enable me to reach my goals. I have a lot more to do, so stay tuned for more exciting updates and results.

I had Jack restructure my daily routine and in 12-short weeks I achieved my goal. I feel better than I have in years. It's amazing what proper structure and guidance and continuous support can do for someone struggling to meet their goals. Thanks Jack, you made a believer out of me.

When my best friend told me she was going to sign-up for personal training sessions with a trainer in downtown Chattanooga, I told her she needed to check the trainer I had heard about that was just around the corner at Absolute Fit. I told her she should inquire there before having to travel all the way to Chattanooga several times a week. So, she went and was thrilled with the facility and staff, she signed up and came back and just raved about how neat and professional the place looked and that Jack, her new trainer, answered and met the needs for the type of training she wanted.

I ignored her daily invitations to come and exercise with her because I was still wrapped up in consuming junk food and did not care about exercising. Hey, it was just not in my schedule at the time. However, I would always complain about my weight to her.  Finally, I agreed to check the place out, but only to look. So she dragged me kicking and screaming. I was impressed from just walking in the front door. I had no idea the place looked as good as it did. The comfortable feeling I got made me relax and the intimating factor was not there. There were people just like me working out there. So after looking around and talking to the staff, I joined the personal training program with my friend so we could train together.

For the first two or three weeks, I literally rolled around on the floor from one exercise to the next.  I was in such terrible shape. It had been years since I had done any exercise. But Jack, with his experience and consistent pushing and encouraging, helped me along. I slowly but surely realized why Absolute Fit’s motto is “Don’t Cheat Your Body”®.  I have lost 10lbs of body FAT and feel much better. I still have more to lose to achieve my personal goals.  It is hard work, but it is a lifestyle choice I had to make to better improve my quality of life! I realized just complaining about my problems doesn’t work. I needed change.

My health club experiences in the past have never made me as comfortable as I am at Absolute Fit. The agenda there is to help you help yourself by protecting your health thru proper lifestyle adjustments that you can adhere to long-term.  So do as my friend and I have. I recommend absolute fit to everyone. I'm a health care professional (p.t.a.) and I find jack and his staff well informed and professional. Jack has a great background and the experience to back it up. At absolute fit, you have your own personal trainer to set up your program and assist you along the way. Jack may be with a client in the gym, but he has his eye on everyone working out and he will come away and point out a problem or mistake you are making and show you how to correct it. Absolute FIT has been an absolutely amazing experience!

 

I have been an aerobics instructor, off and on, for the past 14 years…but had come to the point where the exercise just didn’t seem to be enough.  I had gained about 15 pounds over a 5 year period, even though I was teaching a couple of classes and running twelve miles every week. I was so unhappy with the way that my body looked that I was embarrassed to teach aerobics. Not to mention the fact that most of my clothes were not fitting and the idea of a bathing suit drove me to tears!

 

When we moved to north GA. last summer, I began to pack on even more pounds. I knew I was in real trouble of becoming seriously out of shape, so I stopped in at Absolute Fit.  I met Jack and he was so encouraging that I began using the facility right away.  It was the first time that I was truly motivated in years. (Which I’m sure seems strange coming from an aerobics instructor, but it is true!)

 I began a 6 week personal training and nutrition program with Jack in October, and six weeks later I am a new person.  I have lost twelve total pounds, nine pounds of body fat, and fourteen and a half (14.5) total inches.  The before and after photos are amazing!  I feel great and I am so enthusiastic that I teach fitness classes with real enthusiasm again!

What made the difference for me?  Definitely the nutrition (which had not be covered in any of the aerobics certifications that I had ever gotten)…but the personal attention also made a huge difference.  Jack has such a wonderful knowledge of nutrition, fitness, and personal training combined that I was able to find a program that changed the way that I thought about exercise and good health.

I have been around the fitness industry for lots of years, and I have worked in lots of gyms, but the atmosphere at Absolute Fit is completely different that anything that I have been around before.  I love it!  I will continue to make changes and help others make changes in their life for the better.  I finally feel absolutely fit!

Barriers being broken

Lavon is sharing her story because after her recent Dr's. visit she received excellent news about the progress she is making which allowed her medication to be cut in half.  A true blessing to her and her family.

 Lavon come to our center a little apprehensive because she has tried several other programs that have failed her and simply did not give her the results she was seeking. She had been struggling trying to lose weight for the past 19 years. Lavon also shared with us that this is the first program that gave her success in losing more than five pounds. She had a barrier around the five pound range. But with our help and her new dedication, we not only broke the barrier, we shattered the five pound barrier. She is continuing to break new barriers every week.

  • Several things influence me. First, I was tired of not having a lot of energy and just not feeling good. Second, my doctor told me that if I would exercise and lose some weight, that he might be able to reduce some of my medication.

2. What were some of the techniques you used?

  • I tried Slim Fast, Spectrum Weight loss, years ago I tried NutriSystem, and I have tried exercising on my own and watching what I eat.

3. What are or were some of your most difficult challenges?

  • When I did not eat right, I would get sick.  Exercising at home did not work because there were to many distractions, something else always needed to be done.  And also, not knowing the proper exercises to achieve my goals. I really just did not have the knowledge that I needed to accomplish what I wanted to. In spite of all of my reading and all the advice friends and family gave me.

4. How has your transformation affected your life?

  • To date, I have lost 19 pounds. Even though I have more to lose, my doctor has already reduce one of my medications. It might have been a small reduction but exciting no less.  I feel better and I have more energy.  My husband, family, and friends can already tell a difference in my body.

5. What is the most important piece of advice you have for others?

  • Exercise as much as you can, learn from experts the proper way to eat.  In order to achieve weight loss and body fat loss you must incorporate both exercise and proper eating habits.  Do what I did, just listen to Jack Bell.  He WILL NOT stir you wrong.  Jack has been so much help to me not only in encouraging me to push myself harder, but he has helped me to understand what type of exercise that I need and how often, and he has been a big help with me on my eating habits.  His weekly weight management classes have been very informative and very helpful.

6. What are your goals for the future?

  • At this point, I know I still have another 35 pounds to lose, and another 14% body fat.  These are at a minimum. Once I reach these goals, I will see if I like where I am at. If not, I will go further.

7. Additional comments.

  • I can't say enough good things about Jack Bell.  I love the way he verifies his routines.  His classes are NEVER boring and he always seems to know just how much to push, even when you don't think you can do one more thing.

  • The main key is exercise. Drinking plenty of water. I have found that a low-carb & low-fat lifestyle is what works best for me.

  • For me it has been mentally challenging just from what people say and how they react to your lifestyle change.

4. How has your transformation affected your life?

  • I have more energy now. I can find cute clothes that fit me and that I look good in and I don't have to shop in the plus sizes anymore.

5. What is the most important piece of advice you have for others?

  • You have to be ready in your mind to make a change and that your the only one that can change yourself. Don't do it for someone else.

6. What are your goals for the future?

  • I still have a lot to work on. I'm 16lbs away from my personal goal and still have a lot of toning to do. This is something that I will continue to work on; it's a process that I will never quit!!!!

7. Additional comments.

Hi, my name is Aleisha and I have a success story that I would like to share. For the past four years I have been severely overweight. I had health problems that were caused from it. I constantly complained about being heavy, but still did not do anything about it. I finally came to the realization that a miracle was not going to happen and that I was the one to blame for letting food control my life.

 In January 2004, I finally made up my mind that I was determined that I was going to do something about it. So I started my healthy lifestyle. I was making better & healthier food choices and I felt great. Then in February 2004 I found out about Absolute Fit, so my mother and I joined. My experience at Absolute Fit has been awesome. I work out on the average 3 to 4 times a week and love it. I have never gotten bored with their classes. They are designed so that all levels of fitness can participate.

I have saw tremendous results since I have started my healthy lifestyle. I have gone from a size 22 to a 14 and have lost 52lbs and still going. My husband and family have been real supportive throughout my process. I also like the support that I have received from Jack and feel that he is my biggest motivator. It's a lot of work but I'm not going to give up because the rewards are so much better. I feel like a brand new person and loving it.

The questions and responses were as follows:

1.       How did you decide to make a change?

  • I was motivated by someone in my life, which, as a result of my change.  As we were getting to know one another, he decided to challenge me to do it. Moreover, he put himself through the same rigors to keep me going during the process. I was so out of shape that I could not mount a horse anymore without help, and I would even be sore the day after climbing a few flight of stairs.

2.       What were some of the techniques you used?

  • Typical two words: “Eat” and “Exercise.” The exercise routine was simple: Aerobic type activity – three days a week, 20-30 minutes…Weight Training – three days a week, 30-40 minutes. The eating was more of a challenge. I had to INCREASE my eating to five to six meals a day. A meal would consist of a protein, a carbohydrate and a vegetable. However, water consumption was key, 80oz a day.

3.       What are or were some of your most difficult challenges?

  • CHOCOLATE!! Getting up early in the morning for exercise and remembering to eat every 2-3 hours

4.       How has your transformation affected your life?

  • Several little things come to mind with this question, beyond the typical answers like I feel better or stronger. For example, it’s great to: 1.) Be able to fit comfortably in an airplane seat.  2.) Have people accuse me of not knowing what it’s like to be fat. 3.) Have people not recognize me at all and literally introduce themselves again.

5.       What is the most important piece of advice you have for others?

  • Whenever you are really ready to make a change, all you have to do is put your mind to it. Others may try to bring you back down, like sabotaging you with CHOCOLATE. However, when there is a will, there is always a way to just say no!

6.       What are your goals for the future?

  • I still have more to do. I have about 10lbs of fat to lose and 10lbs of muscle to gain. Then, I will go into maintenance mode. It is a never-ending process, but the results are worth it.

Jack,

Three years ago I suffered a fall which resulted in a major injury to my right shoulder. Two surgeries and two years of physical therapy later I still had only regained limited strength, flexibility, and functionality of my right shoulder.

This past summer I consulted an orthopedic surgeon who recommended another surgery if I wanted to try to gain more flexibility and functionality in my right shoulder. Needless to say I was not looking forward to another surgery following many months of physical therapy. Then 3 months ago I joined Absolute FIT and began utilizing the conditioning classes. Two months later I was able to do push-ups which I had not been able to do since my accident.

Today, a little over three months since joining Absolute FIT my right shoulder is much stronger, and more flexible. I now do 40-50 and even 60 push-ups during my exercise classes. The functionality of my shoulder is much improved.  I owe this improvement in my right shoulder to Jack Bell's Absolute FIT Conditioning Program.

And, oh yes, I have decided that any future surgery is no longer necessary.

1. How did you decide to make a change?

  • Having worked out off/on for the past 10 years, I had gotten out of the habit. My husband needed to get physically fit and I missed the good feelings of working out. I encouraged my husband to go with me, so we chose Jack's facility over all the city had to offer.

2. What were some of the techniques you used?

  • Jack personalized our weight training program and encouraged us to participate in his exercise classes. After my husband received the "coaxing" from Jack, as well as myself, he agreed to come to classes three times a week. As he began to see and feel results he was glad he was participating. He and Jack had "fun" in the classes which is important. Jack's classes are the VERY best I have ever participated in myself.

3. What are or were some of your most difficult challenges?

  • Hanging in there and meeting the challenge of his classes. No two classes were alike at all, always different, hard as that may seem to believe. After several years, for myself, of not being active due to breast cancer, it was difficult to get back into it. However, I refuse to let the cancer hold me back, which has definitely been a real challenge. For my husband, it was working to the point where he could go the last mile.

4. How has your transformation affected your life?

  • We are both much more physically fit and have much more stamina and energy. I lost 7 pounds and 6 pounds of body fat which has made me feel much better about myself. My husband has really been pleased with his results, he went from a waist size 38 back to his size 36. He lost 8 pounds and 10 pounds of body fat. We did this in 3 months time.

5. What is the most important piece of advice you have for others?

  • As Jack always says......don't cheat your body. Do this for yourself, no one can take care of you but YOU. Hang tough and stick with it, never give it up.

6. What are your goals for the future?

  • Due to the fact we moved to Gulf shores, Alabama last month, we have just enrolled at the local YMCA here and have started this week in going back to our workout routine. We plan to stick with it from now on and get into even more physically fit condition.

7. Additional comments.

  • I would encourage anyone anticipating enrolling in an exercise program to consider Jack's facility. We visited everyone in the area and, trust me, he is the very best you will find. He is your personal trainer, he is always there ready and willing to help you, advise you and do anything he can to help you constantly better yourself. Having moved and enrolled in the facility here, we can tell you, we miss Jack's place very, very much. I do not believe we will ever find one as good, and as much fun, as we had during the time we were members. Consider yourselves fortunate to have such a facility available to you

1. How did you decide to make a change?

  • A new fitness and weight management center opened up next door, I felt stressed and a profound lack of energy, so I decided to join. I just knew I needed to be more active.

2. What were some of the techniques you used?

  • Muscle Flex classes, circuit training and Interval training.

3. What are or were some of your most difficult challenges?

  • Balance, coordination and simply being able to do a push-up.

4. How has your transformation affected your life?

  • I have more energy, I feel less stressed out. I'm a banker so stress is a major factor.

5. What is the most important piece of advice you have for others?

  • If you slip and stumble, pick yourself up and get moving again. You are responsible for your body, well-being and your life.

6. What are your goals for the future?

  • To continue to exercise and try to eat a healthy as possible and live.

 7. Additional comments:

  • After about 2 months of working out at Absolute Fit, I discovered that my clothes began to fit differently and I had tone where there once was none, but I'm not the only one who noticed. While I was changing clothes one day my husband walked in and to my surprise he said, "Weezie, you have a six pack". I'm 42 years old so you can imagine this was great to hear.

I am 58 years old and would like to share with you what your meal plan program has done for me. Before coming to your center I weighed 170 lbs. and had trouble with indigestion. I was taking 2 different prescriptions and 50mg of  Zantac every day to relieve my pain. I also had great difficulty trying to sleep at night.

After trying several different programs I found your program. You developed a meal plan for me, helping me develop a lifestyle change. I've been following your dietary plan, which was custom tailored to my lifestyle and I'm proud to tell you that I have lost 12 pounds and feel much better.

 

But that's not the best part. I no longer need to take medication for my indigestion problem.  Now I go to bed at night and have no trouble falling asleep.  Your program has truly made a difference in my life, not to mention my wife's life as well. My days, nights and weeks are more productive and I'm more energetic throughout the day.

 

I highly recommend your program to everyone I meet. I share my story and tell them if they desire to feel better physically and mentally to either look you up on the web or stop by and have Absolute Fit design a fitness and nutritional program for them. I'm glad I did and they will be as well.

 Intimidated about the "Gym Thing"

Jack,

I just wanted to tell you how excited I am that I’ve lost 11.5 pounds of body fat, while maintaining my lean muscle tissue.  I feel stronger and more flexible than ever before.  I appreciate all your creative programs, they are very effective, and never the same thing twice.  I've only been a member for two months, but the atmosphere and the support is what keeps me coming back.

First, let me tell you how I got started. My sister April brought me one of your coupons and asked if I would join her in this new gym she just started. Now, I’ve exercised before, but I was never able to stick to it.  I always lost interest after a week or two. I was a little intimidated about the "Gym Thing" and did not want to at first, but she insisted that I try. She said it was different and everyone there was very friendly. So I tried a class and loved it and have been constant since that first time, not to mention I brought one of my friends and my other sister. Now we all have a great time in the classes offered at Absolute Fit.

With the way the "genes" run in my family, I thought I was destine to look like I did forever.  By the time I had my third child I looked like my mother. I did not think I had much choice in the matter. But your program has given me a lot of results in a very short time.  I feel better and I  have a lot more energy during the day.  Can't wait till summer gets here! I'm inspired by the people in my classes. They never let me down, and they’re always there and very supportive.

It’s now fun to get dressed in the morning instead, of a dreaded chore. I have much more energy to do things with my children. They have noticed a big difference in my appearance and always tell me they love the way I’m looking these days. My plans now are to teach my family better eating habits, and to make exercise a part of our everyday lives, just like I’m learning throughout your program.

I’m now telling everyone I meet, that if they’re serious about making a change then Absolute Fit is the best place to start. The atmosphere is wonderful and inviting and you get the support you need.
